This September the Bailiwick will be celebrating its culinary heritage by hosting its first International Food Festival! During the festivities expect fantastic promotions at an array of restaurants, live cooking demos, children’s activities and wine tastings to name a few. There is something for everyone to tuck into and what better way to celebrate this special occasion than a stay at The Duke of Richmond Hotel, located just opposite the idyllic Cambridge Park or The Old Government House Hotel & Spa in the heart of St. Peter Port.
Festivities will take place across the beautiful Island while the events below will be centered around the capital, St. Peter Port.
Cocktail Week (11th – 18th September 2015) Get ready to shake things up as top bars and mixologists will be showcasing their skills using locally produced Haut Maison liquers, and trust us you’ll be eager to sample their creative concoctions! The Leopard Bar and Crown Club will both be participating with full fervour so drop by and sample the drinks our skilled bartenders have specially prepared.
Guernsey Restaurant Week (18th – 27th September 2015) Whet your appetite in time for Restaurant Week as eateries across the Island are eager to showcase their special dishes. With such stiff competition to impress expect a gastronomic experience to remember! Don’t miss the Brasserie Restaurant or the Leopard Bar & Restaurant where our chefs have created some truly remarkable dishes.
Big Guernsey Market (19th – 20th September 2015) The picteresque Crown Pier will host the exciting Big Guernsey Market with local producers exhibiting the best of their foodstuff for sale along with a Beach BBQ Cook-Off hosted by 2013 Masterchef contestant Kieron James. Get involved with wine tastings, cheese and beer matching, and cocktail mixing. Another unique event is the Fridge Fest, which will inspire you to create delicious food form your leftovers at home. The Big Guernsey Market is set to be a highlight of the Food Festival.
Live Food Show (19th – 20th September 2015) Guernsey is home to a group of top chefs who will be showcasing their culinary prowess on stage during the Live Food Show. A highlight during the show is the “Extreme Food Challenge” where you will be able to sample unusual dishes which are sure to challenge your taste buds. For the children entertainment will come in the form of a wonderful food book reading accompanied with food tasters! This is a family event with something for everyone.
Gold Dinner (19th September) Hosted by the Old Government House, this event features an inspiring five course menu specially created by Executive Chef Simon McKenzie. Making use of the best of Guernsey produce and matched with award winning wines this is sure to be a gastronomic experience to excite the senses.
Food Lab (22nd September) Let us set the scene: five top chefs matched with five of the Island’s leading producers with the challenge of creating an inspiring tasting dish. Expect great things! Exhibiting the very best of Guernsey gastronomy, this is the perfect event for foodies.
Make Your Case – Blind Wine Tasting (25th September) Fancy yourself a wine connoisseur?Join experienced sommelier David Legoupil for a day of tasting fine wines from across the world. The catch is neither the grape variety, country of origin or price will be disclosed! Take your tasting skills to the next level and bring out the sommelier in you.
Children’s Food Festival (19th – 20th September) A festival wouldn’t be complete without an event for the little ones! This special occasion is aimed at children between the ages of 5 and 11, and includes a Food Bravery activity to challenge the way they think about food! The mascot for the event,“La Frog”, will be on hand for face painting , apple juice pressing and badge making as well.
