If you're looking for a particularly enjoyable time to come to Guernsey, it's worth coinciding your visit with the annual Town Carnival, which sees the capital St Peter Port come alive with music, dance and colour for a whole week.

During this special event, the streets of the city play host to all sorts of fascinating visitors, including clowns, pirates, face painters and brass bands.

Commencing on July 19th with a parade marching through the town at 11am led by the Guernsey Scout Band and Guernsey Dancers, this is a family friendly affair that kids and adults will enjoy.

Among the fantastic programme of entertainment on offer, you can expect to enjoy a traditional Punch and Judy show, listen to some smooth street jazz and try your hand at dancing with Fidgety Feet.

But more than that - it is the incredible atmosphere that really sees the entire town come out in force. On a sunny day, it's most fun to simply wander the streets, as you're bound to find an outdoor performance or two that interests everyone.

It also allows you to explore this picturesque town and meander into some of the shops selling everything from wonderful antiques to fragrant flowers.

However, visitors should also check with the concierge which special events are taking place and when, as a little local knowledge goes a long way when you're seeking out those super special family activities.

Take advantage of the service at the Duke of Richmond, which is conveniently located in the centre of St Peter Port and offers luxury accommodation as well as excellent service.

If you're bringing the little ones, why not opt for the Family Offer? This allows them to have as much fun in the hotel as they do at the carnival, with access to an indoor and outdoor games collection.
