The campaign seeks to support and educate hotel and catering companies to improve their work placement and internship programmes and as part of it, Red Carnation Hotels pledged 100 new jobs to 16 – 24 year-olds between now and 2015. The collection’s flagship London property The Milestone Hotel was featured on Channel 4’s The Intern which aired on Thursday 4 April, presented by the former Dragon’s Den panellist and inspirational Founder, CEO and Chairman of Pallex Group. Hilary Devey. Hilary offered three young interns the opportunity to compete for a permanent position at The Milestone Hotel following a week’s on-the-job training packed full of challenges. Twenty-two year-old Georgia Warner won the show and is now on the path to management with a place on Red Carnation’s award-winning management programme. More than six months after filming ended, she is enjoying her role and has aspirations to be a General Manager one day, saying: “I know that if I work hard and am passionate that there will be opportunities at The Milestone for me. I’ve only just started my management programme but I love interacting with people and helping guests. When you get positive feedback that you’ve helped make someone’s stay that bit more special, it’s an amazing feeling.” Jonathan Raggett, Managing Director of Red Carnation Hotels said: “For young people, working in the hospitality industry is often overlooked, yet it offers a rewarding, challenging and serious career choice. We are very proud of Georgia’s achievements and have no doubt that she has a fantastic career in hotels ahead of her. Similarly we wholeheartedly support The Big Conversation for Hospitality Jobs initiative and are looking forward to welcoming 100 more people like Georgia into the RCH family.” The Red Carnation Hotel Collection has a reputation for being one of the best employers in the hospitality sector.
