Here is a selection of some frequently asked questions about the Duke of Richmond for your convenience. All other questions can be sent to us using our Contact Us form.

Is a passport required for visiting Guernsey?

UK residents do not require a passport to visit Guernsey although all air and sea carriers do require some form of photo identification. If you are travelling from the continent direct to Guernsey you will need a passport. If you travel to Guernsey from the continent via United Kingdom you will also need a passport.

What major Credit Cards are accepted?

All major credit cards are accepted including American Express, Visa, Mastercard, Diners Club and Switch.

Can I bring my pet with me?

Pets are welcome at The Duke of Richmond by prior arrangement. Please note pets are not permitted in the Restaurant. Though a deposit is requested upon arrival in case of any damage caused, this will be returned to you at the end of your stay. Find out more about our facilities for pets here.

Do all rooms have internet access?

Yes. The hotel and guest rooms feature a complimentary wireless high speed Internet connection. Guest rooms are also equipped with two analogue telephone lines. This enables you to use the primary number as your direct telephone line and the second line for a fax machine or laptop computer.

How do I get to Guernsey from the UK mainland?

Guernsey is well served by flights and ferries from the UK and mainland Europe. Flights operate daily from London Gatwick, Southampton, Manchester, London Stansted, Exeter, Jersey and several other regional airports whilst there is a regular ferry service from Poole, Jersey and St Malo.

What is the local currency?

The Guernsey currency is pounds sterling. Local notes and coinage are interchangeable on the island with UK tender. (We still have £1 notes). Please note that Guernsey notes and coins cannot be used when back in the UK but can be exchanged free of charge in all major banks.

When must I check out of the room?

On the day of your departure, please vacate your room by 11.00am. Please notify reception regarding a later check-out time if you require it.

What happens if I need medical treatment

There is no reciprocal health agreement between Guernsey and the British Government. This means that UK residents travelling to the Islands will be charged for doctors visits and medical treatment within a hospital. Medical insurance is therefore strongly recommended.
